OPEC+ Halts Output Increases as Market Conditions Take Center Stage
OPEC+ has decided to keep oil production targets for October unchanged, pausing further adjustments as the alliance assesses market conditions and prepares for a broader review of production baselines for 2027.
The decision was made during a virtual meeting of seven OPEC+ countries, including Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria, and Oman. These countries will maintain their September 2026 required production levels in October.
Kazakhstan's quota for October remains at 1.628 million barrels per day (bpd), while Russia's will be 9.949 million bpd, Saudi Arabia's 10.478 million bdp, and so on. The seven countries reaffirmed their commitment to full conformity with the Declaration of Cooperation.
The unchanged October quotas mark a pause in increasing supply, but OPEC+ is likely to continue reviewing market conditions and assessing production capacity for its members. The alliance will establish new baseline levels by 2027, which could impact individual production quotas and influence how much oil each producer can bring to the market.
