OPEC+ Holds Firm on Oil Quotas Amid Iran War Disruptions
OPEC+ has decided to maintain oil production quotas unchanged for October, despite the ongoing Iran war that continues to disrupt oil output and exports in the Middle East.
The decision was made by a sub-group of seven countries led by Saudi Arabia and Russia during a monthly video conference on Sunday. This move is consistent with OPEC's plan to keep targets steady until the end of the year, as part of their roadmap.
The Iran conflict has severely reduced oil exports from Persian Gulf nations, but some have managed to prop up flows using alternative pipeline routes and covert shuttle runs. However, this reduction in output has not affected OPEC+ decisions, which were made to nominally complete the reversal of output curbs made in 2023.
OPEC will also audit production capacity for 2027 limits, as part of their efforts to ensure compliance with agreed-upon targets.
