OPEC+ Maintains Oil Output Policy Amid Global Uncertainty

OPEC+ countries, including Saudi Arabia and Russia, kept their oil output policy unchanged for October amid global uncertainty. The seven core OPEC+ nations met virtually to review market conditions and outlook, deciding not to increase production levels further. This decision comes after a previous increase of around 188,000 barrels per day in September.

The OPEC+ countries had previously rolled back a voluntary production cut of around 1.65 million barrels per day introduced in 2023. However, disruptions to oil exports, including those linked to the conflict involving Iran and the Strait of Hormuz, have limited the impact of OPEC+ production decisions on global oil supplies and prices.

OPEC+ is expected to meet again in October to review market conditions and production levels. The decision not to increase production further may be seen as a cautious approach given the ongoing uncertainty in the global oil market.
