OPEC Reports July 2026 Oil Market Fluctuations Amid Geopolitical Uncertainty
According to OPEC's latest report, the global oil market experienced significant fluctuations in July 2026. The OPEC Reference Basket (ORB) value dropped by $6.76/b, month-over-month, to average $82.99/b. This decline was mirrored in other major crude oil benchmarks, with ICE Brent front-month averaging $83.97/b and NYMEX WTI front-month contract averaging $79.22/b.
The Brent-WTI futures spread widened by $2.11/b, month-over-month, to an average premium of $4.75/b in July. The forward curves of ICE Brent and GME Oman strengthened during the same period. Geopolitical risks and concerns about prompt supply availability supported prompt-month contracts, while oil market fundamentals remained robust.
The global economic growth forecast for 2026 was revised down to 3%, while the forecast for 2027 remains unchanged at 3.2%. The US economic growth forecast remains unchanged at 2.2% for 2026 and 2% for 2027. Global oil demand is forecast to grow by 0.6 mb/d in 2026, year-over-year, following a slight downward revision from last month's assessment.
