OPEC+ Set to Maintain Oil Output Policy Amid Disruptions
OPEC+ is set to maintain its current oil output policy in October at a meeting on Sunday, according to three sources close to the matter. The group's decision comes as it completes the unwinding of one layer of production cuts this month and focuses on negotiations for 2027 quotas.
The Iran war has disrupted oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz, reducing OPEC+'s influence over prices and market share. Unlike in the past, the group's supply decisions now have a more limited impact on the market.
Seven core OPEC+ members, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Algeria, Kazakhstan, and Oman, will meet online at 1100 GMT to discuss their production quotas. These countries have been increasing their monthly production quotas for most of this year.
