Orleans Gas Prices Soar to Highest in Western NY
Gas prices in the US and New York State have seen an increase over the past week. According to AAA, the national average price of regular unleaded gas rose by 11 cents from $4.00 to $4.11 per gallon. In New York State, the average price increased by 8 cents to $4.23 a gallon.
The highest average price in Western New York was recorded in Orleans County at $4.33 per gallon, which is also the highest among all counties in the region. The increase in gas prices can be attributed to rising crude oil prices, which have been driven up by volatility along the Strait of Hormuz and instability in the region.
The current price of crude oil ranges from $85 to $91 per barrel, which could lead to higher pump prices throughout the summer months. For comparison, a year ago the national average was $3.15 while the state average was $3.17 a gallon.
