Orlen Seeks to Double Norwegian Oil Output Through Expansion

Polish energy group Orlen aims to double its production on Norway's continental shelf through exploration and acquisitions, its upstream chief said.

The company wants to reach 200,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day from 100,000 boepd now, with a larger share being oil rather than natural gas.

Orlen has already invested more than $8 billion in Norway and hopes to acquire more producing assets, especially if major international companies shift their focus elsewhere.

The company's output is expected to grow to 120,000 boepd when the Aker BP-operated Yggdrasil and Fenris projects start production next year.
