Orlen Sees No Disruptions Despite Sharp Drop in Saudi Crude Shipments
Polish energy company Orlen says it does not expect any immediate disruptions to its supply of crude oil from Egypt's Sidi Kerir Terminal, despite a sharp drop in Saudi crude cargoes due for shipment this month. According to LSEG data, ten tankers carried a total of 6.6 million barrels from Sidi Kerir to Gdansk in August, but only three tankers carrying 2.1 million barrels are scheduled for delivery this month.
Orlen receives about 40% of its oil from Saudi Aramco, which provides feedstock to the company's refineries in Gdansk and Plock. However, Orlen says that 'feedstock delivery to group refineries is proceeding without interruption.' The company has consistently diversified its sources of supply and expanded upstream operations.
The temporary closure of the East-West Pipeline due to a drone attack last week may have disrupted Saudi Arabia's ability to transport crude oil through Egypt's SUMED pipe, but Orlen's supply appears unaffected for now. The combined capacity of Orlen's two refineries is 486,000 barrels per day.
