Ovintiv Q2 Earnings Miss Estimates Despite 30% Revenue Growth
Ovintiv Inc., an oil and gas exploration and production company based in Denver, Colorado, reported its second-quarter 2026 earnings on July 23. The company's adjusted earnings per share came in at $1.74, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.91.
The miss was attributed to decreased year-over-year production volumes, increased expenses, and lower average realized natural gas prices. However, Ovintiv's revenue of $3 billion increased 30% from the same quarter in 2025, beating the consensus estimate by 28.2%. The company also declared a quarterly dividend of 30 cents per share on July 23.
Ovintiv's total production for the second quarter was 614,600 barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOE/d), marginally missing its own prediction of 615,000 BOE/d. Natural gas production increased to 1,959 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) from 1,851 MMcf/d in the prior-year quarter.
The company's realized natural gas price was $1.99 per thousand cubic feet compared with $2.38 in the year-ago period, while the realized oil price increased to $91.53 per barrel from $65.23 in the prior-year quarter. Ovintiv's total expenses of $2 billion increased 11.7% from the year-ago quarter's figure.
