Pakistan Faces Temporary Load Management Due to RLNG Shortage
Pakistan's electricity supply has been hit by temporary load management due to a shortage of Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG). The Power Division reported that a non-availability of an RLNG cargo resulted in a 3,600-megawatt reduction in power generation during night peak hours.
The Power Division said furnace-oil-based power plants were operated to meet electricity demand. However, this has put pressure on the power system, leading to temporary load management of 1.5-3 hours during nighttime peak hours.
The government apologized for the inconvenience and urged consumers to limit their electricity use during nighttime peak hours to help reduce pressure on the power system.
