Pakistan Govt Nearly Doubles Blood Money Payment to Heirs of Victims
The federal government of Pakistan has set the value of blood money (diyat) at over Rs19 million for the fiscal year 2026-27, marking a significant increase of around 97% from last year's value.
This decision was made due to rising silver prices, which are used as a benchmark to determine the diyat amount under Section 323 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
The notified value of diyat is Rs19,352,390, reflecting the value of 30,630 grams of silver.
