The government of Pakistan has decided to import one million tonnes of wheat to bridge the gap between domestic supply and demand. The move aims to stabilise wheat and flour prices across the country.

Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain announced the decision after a meeting with provincial governments representatives, where they reviewed the country's wheat stocks, prices, and supply situation.

The government will also release existing wheat stocks held by the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO) to all provinces according to their requirements.

Rana Tanveer Hussain said the government remains committed to ensuring the availability of affordable and quality wheat.
