Pakistan Keeps Fuel Prices Unchanged Amid Global Volatility
The Pakistani government has announced that petrol and diesel prices will remain unchanged for the next two days. According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Petroleum, the decision is due to the non-publication of Platts prices over the weekend.
Platts rates are used as a benchmark to calculate fuel prices in Pakistan. With no updated rates available, the government has decided to keep prices at Rs335.18 per litre for petrol and Rs383.46 per litre for High-Speed Diesel (HSD). These rates were fixed on July 25.
Last week, the government introduced a daily fuel price review mechanism amid volatility in global oil prices following renewed hostilities in the Middle East. Under this new system, petrol prices have increased by Rs24.47 since last week, while HSD prices have risen by Rs60.16.
