Pakistan LNG Prices Hike Amid Iran Conflict, Tokyo Gas Seeks Trading Growth
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) in Pakistan has increased the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) price for August 2026. According to a notification, the new prices are $25.83 per MMBtu for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) system and $25.08 per MMBtu for Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) system.
The price increase is attributed to the Iran war, which has tightened supplies on the spot liquefied natural gas market. This could lead to persisting upward pressure on prices if the conflict continues.
Tokyo Gas, Japan's largest city gas provider, plans to optimise supply and demand through its global LNG trading capabilities. The company aims to reach an annual trading volume of 5 million metric tons by 2030.
