Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has announced plans to intensify his party's protest movement against rising inflation and petroleum levy. Speaking in Lahore, Hafiz Naeem stated that the party would unveil its next phase of protests later tonight.

The JI chief criticized the government's economic policies, saying they had allowed wheat exports which had led to a surge in domestic prices. He also accused the ruling elite of refusing to cut their lavish privileges and questioned the continued collection of petroleum levy.

Hafiz Naeem warned that if the government failed to abolish the levy, his party would begin staging sit-ins on the roads. The strike is planned for 13 Rabi-ul-Awwal, which falls in the first week of September.
