Pakistan Receives First Qatari LNG Cargo Since July Amid Regional Tensions
A cargo ship carrying 82,000 metric tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar's Ras Laffan terminal arrived in Pakistan through the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday morning.
The LNG shipment marked the first Qatari cargo to reach Pakistan since July, when Islamabad received the last Qatar-origin LNG cargo on July 11. The scheduled cargoes from QatarEnergy had been disrupted due to regional tensions.
Pakistan is currently facing power outages and soaring fuel prices amid hostilities in the Strait of Hormuz. To address this issue, the government has implemented a daily fuel price mechanism, which has triggered protests by political parties.
