Pakistan Reissues LNG Tender Amid Energy Crunch

Pakistan LNG Ltd (PLL) has reissued an emergency tender for liquefied natural gas (LNG) after rejecting a sole offer from BP Plc at $27 per million British thermal units, nearly three times pre-war spot levels.

The PLL tender is now seeking a cargo before September 12, with offers due on Friday, Bloomberg reported. This comes amid an ongoing energy crunch in Pakistan, which may necessitate continued blackouts if immediate supplies are not ensured.

Last week, the government apologised for load shedding during night hours, attributing the situation to non-availability of contracted LNG from Qatar. This has rendered power plants with a combined capacity of around 5,000 MW unable to operate.
