Pakistan Secures LNG Lifeline via Tense Strait of Hormuz

A critical shipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG) has arrived in Pakistan via the Strait of Hormuz, providing temporary relief to the country's power-starved regions. The Qatari LNG cargo was transported by the Al Marrouna vessel, which successfully crossed the strait under a government-to-government arrangement between Pakistan and Qatar.

The shipment, carrying approximately 81,936 metric tons of LNG from Qatar's Ras Laffan terminal, is expected to dock at Port Qasim within two days. This delivery comes as regional tensions escalate, with military confrontations between Iran and the United States contributing to a sharp uptick in hostilities.

The arrival of this cargo offers temporary but much-needed relief to Pakistan's power sector, which has been grappling with widespread loadshedding of six to 12 hours daily. The LNG was secured at a price equivalent to 13.37% of Brent crude.
