Pakistan Seeks Safe Passage for Qatar LNG Cargo Amid Strait of Hormuz Tensions

Pakistan is seeking safe passage for an LNG cargo from Qatar through the Strait of Hormuz amid rising tensions in the region, which could impact energy supplies and power generation. The country has stepped up diplomatic efforts with the US, Iran, and Qatar to ensure the vessel's safe transit.

The move comes after a previous LNG cargo was reportedly blocked by US naval forces, forcing it to turn back before reaching Pakistan several days later.

Pakistan is facing an acute shortage of gas for power generation, and authorities are leaving no stone unturned to secure the latest cargo. The country has floated a fresh tender for one spot LNG cargo of around 140,000 cubic meters, with delivery scheduled between September 12 and 16.
