Pakistan Warns Iran to Rein in Houthi Allies Amid Escalating Attacks on Saudi Arabia

Pakistan has warned Iran to rein in its Yemeni Houthi allies after a surge in attacks on Saudi Arabia, according to Saudi, Pakistani and Iranian sources cited by Reuters. The Houthis struck an airbase in Khamis Mushait and oil infrastructure in nearby cities on Tuesday, wounding 73 people in one of the largest attacks on Saudi Arabia since February.

Pakistan's warning carries particular weight due to its defense pact with Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that any military role would be confined to defending Saudi territory and that 'an aggression on one country will be considered an aggression on all three countries.'

The warning was conveyed to Iran over the past 24 hours, urging Tehran to use its influence to halt Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia. However, Iranian officials claimed they do not control the Houthis.
