Pakistani Government Apologizes for Night-Time Loadshedding Due to RLNG Shortage

The Pakistani government has apologized for temporary night-time loadshedding due to the unavailability of regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG).

Citing a 3,600MW shortfall resulting from delayed RLNG cargoes, the Power Division spokesperson said that temporary load management of 1.5 to three hours was carried out during last night's peak hours.

A 195MW decline in generation from Mangla Dam and the use of furnace oil-based power plants contributed to the shortage.

The Power Division assured consumers that load management will be reduced as soon as the delayed RLNG cargoes arrive, which will bring down the cost of RLNG-based power generation.

The government had previously apologized for loadshedding exceeding 2.25 hours in April due to lower water availability for power generation.
