Pakistani Inflation Hits 11.1% as Food and Transport Costs Soar

Inflation in Pakistan surged to 11.1% in August, up from 9.2% in July, according to official data released on Tuesday.

The sharp increase was driven by rises in food, housing, utilities, and transport costs, pushing price pressures to their highest level in recent months.

Food inflation rose to 13.9%, with tomatoes increasing by 128% year-on-year and onions by 124%. Wheat prices rose 87%, while wheat flour increased 73%.
