Pakistan's Non-GMO Corn Sold at Discount Due to Poor Handling

Pakistan's non-genetically modified corn is being sold at a 10-15% discount due to excess moisture and other impurities present in the crop, according to Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) Country Head Muhammad Daniyal.

The lower price of corn is not due to its quality but because of poor handling and storage, which can be improved with better infrastructure and standardised post-harvest logistics.

Daniyal believes Pakistan has significant potential to increase agricultural production and sell its commodities in international markets, thanks to its irrigation system. However, the country needs to improve its grain-storage facilities to preserve quality and reduce losses.
