Pakistan's Short-Term Inflation Rises 9.29% Year-on-Year Amid Edible Oil Price Hike
Short-term inflation in Pakistan rose by 9.29 per cent year-on-year for the week ending August 4, mainly due to increasing prices of edible oil and wheat flour.
The Sensitive Price Index (SPI) measures short-term inflation, and according to official data released on Friday, it increased by 0.28 per cent on a week-on-week basis.
The National Price Monitoring Committee, headed by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, reviewed inflation trends and reported a deceleration in monthly inflation.
Iqbal ordered a nationwide survey of loose edible oil, ghee, and milk after 36 per cent of packaged food samples failed quality standards.
