Pandora Sticks to Platinum Plan Despite Falling Silver Prices
Pandora, the world's largest jeweler, is sticking to its plan to replace some of its sterling-silver jewelry with platinum-plated alternatives, despite a decline in silver prices. CEO Berta de Pablos-Barbier said on CNBC that the company aims to reduce its exposure to volatile precious-metal prices by diversifying its portfolio of materials.
The move was first announced in February when silver prices were around $80 an ounce. Since then, silver has fallen to just under $65 an ounce, but Pandora is still going ahead with its plans. Pablos-Barbier said the company wants to offer its consumers a more flexible and diverse range of materials.
Pandora's decision comes as the company's stock has rebounded 55% over the past three months after a weak 2025. The recent decline in silver prices was attributed to this weakness by Citi analysts.
