Papua New Guinea Signs Agreements to Advance $14.5 Billion Papua LNG Project
Papua New Guinea has taken a significant step forward in the development of its Papua LNG project, estimated to cost around $14.5 billion.
The government and developers led by TotalEnergies have signed three agreements that address key economic obstacles hindering the project's progress.
The new package includes a price stabilization mechanism with risk-sharing, which aims to protect the project's viability during periods of lower oil prices.
The agreements also offer an opportunity for the state to increase its participation from 22.5% to 25%, with the additional stake representing an option rather than consolidated participation.
