Pennsylvania DEP Publishes Permit Notices for Oil and Gas Projects
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has published various permit notices related to oil and gas industry facilities. The notices invite comments on several proposed projects, including a natural gas power plant in Carroll Township, Perry County, which will supply data centers.
Another project is the expansion of an Amazon Data Center in Salem Township, Luzerne County, which requires Air Quality Plan Approval for the installation of 84 diesel backup generators and other equipment. Comments are also invited on a Chapter 105 permit for Expand Operating LLC to construct a shale gas water withdrawal structure into the Susquehanna River.
The DEP has also issued permits for various projects, including a Chapter 102 permit for the Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Company's Northeast Natural Gas Supply Enhancement Project. Additionally, several oil and gas well drilling permits have been issued by the DEP, with a total of 340 unconventional wells drilled so far this year.
The DEP has also extended an Air Quality Plan Approval for 15 natural gas backup generators at the Iron City No. 1 Power Generator and Data Center Facility in Karthause Township, Clearfield County.
