With Labor Day weekend just around the corner, drivers in Peoria can expect to pay record-high gas prices. According to AAA Arizona, prices have dropped by 7 cents a gallon this week but remain at an all-time high for this time of year.

The current price is $4.62 per gallon, an 85-cent increase from last year's average of $3.77 per gallon. Crude oil prices are currently in the $90 per barrel range due to continued volatility in the Strait of Hormuz.

Aldo Vazquez, spokesperson for AAA Mountain West Group, attributed the high gas prices to the record-setting August and the ongoing issues with crude oil prices.
