Permian Basin Drives Record-Breaking US Energy Output
The U.S. Energy Department says that the Permian Basin in Texas is driving national energy output, marking what they call the 'Great American Energy Comeback.'
U.S. oil production reached a record 13.6 million barrels per day in 2025, with natural gas production also reaching record-high levels.
The department notes that the U.S. is currently producing 24 million barrels per day in oil and other liquid fuels, surpassing Russia and Saudi Arabia combined.
The Permian Basin is critical to U.S. energy production, accounting for nearly half of total U.S. crude oil output and more than one-fifth of the nation's natural gas supply.
