Pertamina Patra Niaga Slashes Fuel Prices in Indonesia Amid Global Crude Oil Decline
Indonesian fuel prices dropped across the board on August 1 as state-owned PT Pertamina Patra Niaga and private operators cut non-subsidized gasoline rates. The move follows a cabinet meeting between Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia and President Prabowo Subianto, where officials adjusted formulas to reflect declining global crude oil benchmarks.
Pertamina's flagship Pertamax (RON 92) fell from Rp 16,250 ($1.02) to Rp 15,950 ($1.00) per liter in the greater Jakarta region, while BP-AKR's BP 92 dropped from Rp 16,670 ($1.05) to Rp 16,130 ($1.01) per liter.
The price cuts aim to pass international cost savings onto local consumers without upsetting private sector distribution margins. State-assigned subsidized fuels remain locked at fixed prices, safeguarding baseline transport costs for lower-income households and logistics operators.
