Peru Oil Production Edges Up in July, Still Lags Behind Last Year
Peru's oil production has shown a slight increase in July 2026, reaching 36,930 barrels per day (BPD), according to official figures from Perupetro. This represents a marginal improvement from June but still lags behind last year's numbers by 23%. The highest-producing blocks were Lot 95 in the Loreto region with 10,658 BPD, followed by Lot X in Piura with 8,233 BPD and Lot Z-69 in Piura with 2,954 BPD.
The Peruvian Hydrocarbons Society (SPH) noted that while oil production has recovered somewhat from the previous month, it continues to follow a downward trend. To address this issue, the SPH is advocating for measures that support exploration and development of new projects. This includes a predictable regulatory framework, faster permitting processes, and conditions that encourage private investment.
