Peshawar Kitchen Item Prices See Mixed Trends Amid Supply Constraints

A recent survey in Peshawar found mixed trends in kitchen item prices. Prices of daily use items like flour, sugar, eggs, and live chicken have increased significantly, with live chicken selling at Rs375 per kilogramme.

Traders in the area attribute these price hikes to a consistent ban on wheat and flour supply from Punjab to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. As a result, prices of flour have gone up, with a 20-kg bag now costing Rs3200 compared to Rs3000 last week.

The survey also found that onion prices have reached new highs after a recent tomato price surge, with onions selling at Rs200-180 per kilogramme. In contrast, the price of tomatoes remains unchanged at Rs400 per kilogramme.
