Petra Energy Bhd, operator of Block SK433 in Sarawak, has announced that it will progressively optimise production rates at its Adong Kechil West (AKW) onshore oil well.

The company revealed this after achieving first oil at the site on July 18. AKW is located within Block SK433, where Petra Energy holds a 50% participating interest.

Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg reportedly said that AKW is producing approximately 800 barrels of oil per day, or 24,000 barrels per month.

Petra Energy's wholly-owned subsidiary, Petra Energy Development Sdn Bhd, successfully commissioned the AKW oil well and achieved first oil earlier this month. The company stated that facilities are continuing to stabilise and operational performance is improving.
