A Liberian-flagged liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier, Alhamra, was denied entry to Bangladesh's Maheshkhali terminal due to safety and compliance concerns. The vessel, which arrived on August 11 with a cargo of approximately 61,000 tonnes of LNG from Saudi Aramco, did not meet the required standards for acceptance.

Petrobangla's General Manager (LNG) Deen Mohammad confirmed that the Alhamra was rejected and that a replacement shipment would arrive soon. He assured that there is no immediate concern about an LNG shortage, as other cargoes are in the pipeline.

The rejection of the Alhamra has led to a decrease in LNG supply, which currently stands at 636 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd). Petrobangla expects LNG supply to remain low until August 23 due to reduced supplier deliveries during this period.
