Petrobras Exceeds Oil Production Target Amid Operational Improvements
Petrobras, Brazil's state-controlled oil company, is on track to exceed its 2026 oil production forecast. In the second quarter of this year, Petrobras produced an average of 2.6 million barrels per day, exceeding its target of 2.5 million barrels per day.
The company's CEO, Magda Chambriard, stated that producing 2.7 million barrels per day would be a strong result. However, Petrobras is maintaining its official forecast of more than 2.5 million barrels per day for the year.
Under Chambriard's leadership, Petrobras has focused on increasing output through operational improvements, including slowing production declines at older oil fields.
