Petrobras Eyes LNG Exports Amid Asian Demand Surge
Brazil's national oil company, Petroleo Brasileiro SA, is exploring options to export liquefied natural gas (LNG) from its offshore fields in response to surging demand in Asia and other regions. CEO Magda Chambriard revealed that the company has been discussing ways to liquefy and export LNG with Singapore-based shipbuilder Seatrium Ltd.
The move comes as Asia's appetite for LNG continues to grow, driven by increasing energy consumption in countries like China and Japan. Petroleo Brasileiro SA is considering using its deepwater basins in the Atlantic to produce LNG, which would then be exported via ships.
