Petrobras Locks In Long-Term U.S. LNG Supply Deal with Sempra
Sempra Infrastructure has signed a significant long-term contract for its US liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports. Petrobras, Brazil's state-owned energy company, has agreed to buy approximately 800,000 tonnes of LNG per year from the Port Arthur LNG Phase 2 project in Texas over a period of 20 years.
The deal marks another major milestone for Sempra's expanding US LNG portfolio and underscores growing demand for long-duration contracts. Petrobras will become the first South American company to purchase LNG from Sempra, with the agreement adding to the project's commercial reach into global markets.
The Port Arthur complex, once fully operational, is expected to have a total production capacity of approximately 26 million tonnes per year of LNG. Phase 1, already under construction, will feature two trains that are targeted to start commercial operations in 2027 and 2028.
