Petrobras Strikes New Gas Discovery Offshore Colombia
Petrobras has made another significant discovery in Colombia's offshore Caribbean basin. The company confirmed a new deepwater natural gas discovery at the Sandia-1 exploratory well, located approximately 42 km offshore in 1,251 meters of water.
The well encountered gas-bearing intervals that are being evaluated through well logging, with laboratory analyses planned to further characterize the discovery. This adds to the company's growing offshore gas portfolio in the country and reinforces the significant gas potential of Colombia's offshore Caribbean basin.
The Sandia-1 well is located about 18 km from the Sirius-1 discovery and Sirius-2 appraisal wells, and approximately 9 km from the Copoazu-1 discovery. Drilling began on June 12 and reached total depth on July 29, Petrobras said.
