Petrobras Surges on Record Production and Higher Brent Prices
Petroleo Brasileiro S.A., also known as Petrobras, reported a significant increase in second-quarter earnings per ADS, reaching $1.72, up 168.8% from last year's $0.64 and exceeding the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.52.
The company's revenue jumped 59.8% to $33,607 million, beating the consensus estimate by 9%. This growth was driven by stronger production, exports, and Brent pricing.
Petrobras' upstream segment saw a surge in exploration and production revenues, reaching $22,785 million, more than double last year's figure of $3,974 million. The company's adjusted EBITDA rose 77% to $15,874 million.
The refining sector also performed well, with Petrobras reporting a 63.4% increase in refining, transportation, and marketing revenues to $32,351 million. Net income attributable to shareholders rose to $1,920 million from $217 million, while adjusted EBITDA increased to $3,562 million from $1,080 million.
The company's cash flow generation was strong, with operating cash flow reaching $12,250 million in the quarter, despite an increase in operating expenses and higher taxes related to crude oil exports.
