Petrolia Hospital Evacuated After Gas Leak
A gas leak at the CEE hospital in Petrolia, Ontario, forced the evacuation of the Emergency Department and Acute Care unit on September 10, 2026.
The incident occurred just before 8 p.m. when a contractor was installing a sprinkler system and accidentally drilled into a natural gas line in the basement kitchen area.
Ambulances were redirected to Sarnia for about three hours while the situation was resolved.
The Petrolia and North Enniskillen Fire Department, along with Enbridge Gas, responded to the scene and shut off the gas supply.
