Petronas and PTTEP Secure New 35-Year Gas Block Sharing Contract in MTJDA
Petronas and PTTEP have secured approvals for a new 35-year gas block sharing contract in the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Development Area (MTJDA).
The agreement, which covers Block A-18-01, combines existing Block A-18 with an adjacent exploration area offering additional resource potential.
Block A-18-01 comprises several gas fields and an open area, with a total natural gas production capacity of around 700 million standard cubic feet per day, split equally between Malaysia and Thailand.
Ainoor Abizzurin B Abdullah, Director of PC JDA, said the new contract reflects the 'enduring resolve and strong collaboration' between Malaysia and Thailand, aiming to maximize value through enhanced resource monetization and operational synergies.
