PETRONAS LNG Ltd (PLL), a subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Bhd (PETRONAS), has signed a heads of agreement with Hokuriku Electric Power Company to extend their long-term Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) supply deal.

The current contract period is set to expire, and the new 10-year agreement will see PLL continue supplying up to 0.54 MTPA of LNG to Hokuriku Electric from 2028.

PETRONAS and Hokuriku Electric have also signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to explore strategic collaboration on carbon-neutral initiatives, including the development of next-generation fuels like hydrogen and ammonia, renewable energy, and decarbonisation technologies such as carbon capture and storage (CCS) and carbon capture utilisation and storage (CCUS).

PETRONAS executive vice-president Datuk Adif Zulkifli stated that PETRONAS remains committed to delivering reliable LNG supply while supporting Hokuriku Electric’s energy security, operational resilience, and transition journey.
