Petronet LNG Hit by Qatar Supply Disruptions Amid Strait of Hormuz Tensions

India's largest gas importer Petronet LNG is facing uncertainty in its liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies from Qatar. The company's CEO, A K Singh, said that there is no definite plan for September LNG supplies from Qatar due to the ongoing conflict in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Middle Eastern producer declared force majeure on LNG exports in March after Iran struck two of Qatar's 14 production trains. As a result, Petronet has had to import LNG from other countries such as Oman, the US, Nigeria, and Angola to make up for the shortfall.

Petronet has already been affected by force majeure, with 56 of its Qatari LNG cargoes impacted so far. The company's long-term contract with Qatar allows for delayed cargo delivery until April 2028.
