This is more than a dollar higher than on this day last year and reflects instability in crude oil markets following conflict in Iran since February and recent fighting in the Middle East.
The Philadelphia five-county area is seeing the highest gas prices ever recorded during Labor Day weekend, with motorists feeling the pinch of four-dollar-plus gas. Despite the high prices, many families are not letting it deter them from traveling, with AAA reporting that travelers are willing to fill up their tanks even at these levels and make adjustments in other areas.
Matthew Ferro, a driver filling up his tank on Thursday evening, expressed frustration over the price hike. 'The fact that gas is what it is now, it's honestly ridiculous,' he said. Keith Jones, another driver, noted that prices are high everywhere right now and opted not to travel this holiday weekend.
