Phoenix-Area Gas Prices Hit Record Highs Amid Crude Oil Price Surge
Gas prices in Fountain Hills and the surrounding areas have seen a slight increase over the past week. According to AAA Arizona, gasoline demand is down, but crude oil prices are keeping pump prices higher than normal for this time of year.
The Valley saw a 2-cent rise in gas prices, with prices settling at $4.44 per gallon as of Friday. This is the highest August on record when it comes to the national gasoline average, according to Aldo Vazquez, spokesperson for AAA Mountain West Group.
Statewide, gas prices rose by 4 cents to sit at $4.40 per gallon. The national average also saw a three-cent increase, reaching $4.07 per gallon.
