Pillen Leads Trade Mission to Boost Nebraska Exports in Asia
Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen led a trade mission to Asia, where he highlighted export opportunities for the state's agricultural products. During the trip, Pillen met with officials from Japan and the Philippines to discuss increasing market access for beef, pork, and poultry exports.
Pillen emphasized that Japan remains a reliable partner for red meat exports, with ongoing discussions about growing the market. He also mentioned efforts to increase wheat sales, with a focus on the country's flour industry. The delegation visited facilities where wheat is milled and met with buyers who export the grain.
In addition to agricultural products, Pillen noted that Japan is prioritizing clean energy, creating opportunities for Nebraska's carbon capture pipelines. Both countries are also planning to increase ethanol blend rates in their fuel supply, which could lead to higher demand for Nebraska's product.
