Pillen Promotes Nebraska Ag Exports in Japan and the Philippines
Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen led a trade mission to Japan and the Philippines to promote exports of Nebraska's agricultural products, including beef, pork, ethanol, corn, and wheat. The trip aimed to grow markets for these commodities in both countries.
Pillen emphasized that ethanol was a key part of talks in Japan, where the country is phasing in higher blends of biofuels. Farm Bureau President Mark McHargue noted that Nebraska's low-carbon ethanol story has caught attention in Asia, particularly with buyers looking at cleaner fuel options.
McHargue highlighted the importance of being proactive in expanding exports to avoid losing market share to other countries. He expressed optimism about the growth potential in the Philippines, citing a young population and demand for U.S. products.
