Pipeline Rupture Disrupts PNG Supplies to Rajasthan and UP
A major pipeline rupture in Bharatpur has disrupted piped natural gas (PNG) supplies to seven districts in Rajasthan and 22 stations in Fatehpur Sikri, Uttar Pradesh.
The incident occurred late at night when a JCB machine hit the high-pressure steel track gas pipeline during road construction work on Bajhera-Aghanera Road. The damage caused a major gas leak, prompting authorities to suspend supplies immediately.
The Public Works Department (PWD) was conducting the construction work, and preliminary reports suggest that inadequate attention was paid to the underground gas pipeline during excavation.
Regional Manager Sandeep Soni stated that repair work is being carried out on a war footing, with technical teams working continuously at the site to restore gas supply as quickly as possible. The goal is to resume PNG supply for approximately 6,000 domestic consumers in Bharatpur city within the scheduled timeframe.
