PNGRB Aims to Open City Gas Distribution to External Investors
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has outlined its priorities for the current financial year, including opening city gas distribution to external investors. The regulator aims to enable third-party capital investment in CGD areas where infrastructure exclusivity has expired.
PNGRB's action plan also includes improving the visibility of infrastructure capacity, unbundling functions, and creating an independent Transmission System Operator (TSO).
The regulator plans to review natural gas pipeline authorisation regulations to assess capex-based bidding and revise city gas authorisation regulations to enable connectivity between distributors and facilitate infrastructure sharing.
