Poland Rejects Increased Transit Volumes for Ukrainian Grain
Polish Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Stefan Krajewski has clarified the country's stance on Ukrainian grain transit. Speaking in an interview, Krajewski stated that Poland does not support lifting its embargo on Ukrainian grain and does not plan to increase transit volumes.
In fact, he emphasized that Ukrainian grain should be shipped to third countries rather than remain on the European market. This would prevent damage to trade relations within Europe, according to Krajewski.
He also mentioned that any potential transit of Ukrainian grain through Poland must be under full control. The minister stressed his commitment to protecting Polish farmers and processors, stating 'I have the ability and the willingness to help Ukraine, but not at the expense of Polish farmers and Polish processors.'
Krajewski explained that the capacity of Polish ports is primarily needed for Polish grain exports, making it impossible to fully utilize them for Ukrainian agricultural products.
